Bastrop County Long Term Recovery Team
In 2017 Hurricane Harvey left a path of destruction across Bastrop County leaving many residents with flooded and wind damaged homes. A large percentage of these families had flooded for the 3rd or 4th time in the previous two years. In the last 12 months BCLTRT has been able to fund over $200,000.00 in repairs and replacement for Bastrop County families.
From October 2015 – October 2016, our organization housed over 50 families in hotels immediately following the Hidden Pines Fire and 2016 Memorial Day Flood. BCLTRT gave close to $20,000 in gift cards to families to use at local vendors to assist with clothing, food and baby supplies. In addition to assisting families with their immediate needs we funded nearly $300,000 for repairing and building homes in almost every city in Bastrop County.
Along with assisting families with repairs from Hurricane Harvey, our team is assisting neighborhoods with readiness plans. Education and preparation of neighborhoods and families is a primary goal for BCLTRT moving forward. The better we are prepared the less impact any future events will have on our county.
